Prison Ministry Update

Jun. 26, 2013

READ has received the following report from one of its ministry partners in Poltava, Ukraine.  This ministry team serves in both men’s and women’s prisons in the Poltava region.

Our church in Poltava and our prison ministry team greet you warmly!  We are deeply grateful for your gifts of media, equipment, and the Christian literature which have helped to make this ministry possible.

Because of God’s grace and your help, inmates are hearing the gospel.  Many have accepted the Lord and new believers are being baptized and are growing spiritually.  Quite a few are now out of prison and are faithfully serving in local churches.

By the grace of God, this year four of our team members finished their studies at Kremenchug Regional Bible College.  Our prison ministry team leader, Alexander Korobkin, is working on his master’s degree in counseling at Kiev Theological Seminary.  We are grateful to the Lord for these opportunities to grow spiritually and to apply this knowledge in practical ways.

  •  Each month the team travels about 1,500 kilometers to work in about 50 ministries.
  • Service is provided for 300 to 500 people each month.
  • Each month anywhere from 1 to 20 people repent and become members in the family of God.
  • Three women from Prison No. 65 were baptized and two rekindled their dedication to the Lord.

Though we are far from each other, we are thankful for such loyal friends as you are.  We are eternally grateful that we can count on your prayers and support.

With the love of our Lord Jesus Christ,
The Prison Ministry Team of Poltava
